THE EIGHT YEAR TAKEOVER OF THE US
MEDIA
All it took to seize total US media
control was money and 8 years time.
From 50 large media companies, down to just six in only eight years. (Viacom and CBS split,

The
Lobbying-Media Complex
The Nation, by
Sebastian Jones - 021110
(Excerpt) In a single hour, two men
with blatant, undisclosed conflicts of interest had appeared on MSNBC. The
question is, was this an isolated oversight or business as usual? Evidence
points to the latter.
These
incidents represent only a fraction of the covert corporate influence peddling
on cable news, a four-month investigation by The Nation has found. Since
2007 at least seventy-five registered lobbyists, public relations
representatives and corporate officials--people paid by companies and trade
groups to manage their public image and promote their financial and political
interests--have appeared on MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, CNBC and Fox Business Network
with no disclosure of the corporate interests that had paid them. Many have been
regulars on more than one of the cable networks, turning in dozens--and in some
cases-- hundreds of appearances. ...

O'Reilly
Hosts Jon Stewart On 'The Factor' Stewart Blazes Through FOX News, Takes No Prisoners, Eats Bill O' For
Lunch NewsFocus, by Tim Watts -
020410
For some strange reason, Bill
O'Reilly has decided to look beyond the regular beatings he takes when he visits
the Daily Show Show by bringing Jon Stewart into his studio to be pummeled by
him on FOX turf for a change. One can't really believe the interview was all about
ratings, as their worth is trivial compared to the damage that Stewart is able
to inflict to the nonsense that is the far right narrative of FOX News. It's like
letting a Jedi Master walk into a den of thieves. It is mere child's play for
Stewart. What makes it easy for Stewart is that he A) has a vision that
encompasses all of humanity and not just the privileged elite, 2) he never
strays from the truth, and 3) O'Reilly just doesn't get the debate, nor
understand the world according to the rest of us.
What is most interesting is that
O'Reilly has to actually dissect the interview with FOX commentators afterwards
to see if he won. The funny thing is, neither commentator thinks Bill O' won.
O'Reilly actually stoops so low as to ask a body language expert to see if he
intimidated Stewart, to which she essentially replies, "not at all." The
second part of the interview runs tonight on The O'Reilly Factor.
It's funny that the two liberal intellectuals that
always get the best of Bill O'Reilly
are both comedians, Jon Stewart and Al Franken. (Franken is now a MN Senator.)
NewsFocus: Is
Google going too far in their alleged claim of a free "service" for society?
Have you ever asked yourself who pays for the gazillion petabytes of expensive
hard drive storage to house all of that data? We're talking tons of
information and
video that continually pours in daily, 24/7. Do you realize the inordinate
amount (and cost) of all of the expensive operating bandwidth required to make
Google run? As the old saying goes, "There ain't no free lunch..."
Make no mistake about it, we're not using Google, it is Google
who is using us. The databases that can be built on each individual user
from data mining and usage tracking is more valuable and far more powerful than
most people know.
Many are already up in arms over Google's invasions of privacy,
most notably Google maps invading our personal privacy by illegally
photographing our private property without permission; data that can easily be
exploited and used for criminal endeavors. This type of activity is
clearly prohibited under new Patriot Act laws enacted since 9/11.
People need to seriously start thinking twice about the impact
and reach of this monolithic Goliath, an overnight success story with quarterly
income in the billions. Google has taken its place at the top of, not
just the computer industry, but the world business community as well. Along with
Microsoft, they have each literally conquered the world in such a short
amount of time. Their power is not to be taken lightly.

Glenn Beck And Left-Right Confusion Salon.com,
by Glen Greenwald - Tuesday Sept. 22, 2009
08:23 EDT
Last night during his CBS interview
with Katie Couric,
Glenn Beck said he may have voted for Hillary Clinton and
that "John McCain would have been worse for the country than
Barack Obama." This comment predictably spawned
confusion among some liberals and
anger among some conservatives. But even prior to that,
there had been a palpable increase in the right-wing attacks on
Beck -- some motivated by
professional competition for the incredibly lucrative industry
of right-wing opinion-making, some due to
understandable discomfort with his
crazed and irresponsible rhetoric, but
much of it the result of Beck's growing deviation from GOP (and
neoconservative) dogma. Increasingly, there is great
difficulty in understanding not only Beck's political
orientation but, even more so, the movement that has sprung up
around him. Within that confusion lies several important
observations about our political culture, particularly the
inability to process anything that does not fall comfortably
into the conventional "left-right" dichotomy through which
everything is understood. ... (Read

The corporate media in the United States are
ignoring valid news stories, based on university quality
research. It appears that certain topics are simply forbidden
inside the mainstream corporate media today. To openly cover
these news stories would stir up questions regarding
“inconvenient truths” that many in the US power structure want
to avoid.
For example, current research indicates that public schools in
the United States are more segregated today than they have been
in more than four decades. According to a new Civil Rights
report, published at the University of California, Los Angeles,
schools in the US are 44 percent non-white, and minorities are
rapidly emerging as the majority of public school students in
the US. Latinos and blacks, the two largest minority groups,
attend schools more segregated today than during the civil
rights movement forty years ago. Millions of non-white students
are locked into “dropout factory” high schools, where huge
percentages do not graduate. The most severe segregation in
public schools occurs in the Western states, including
California—not in the South, as many people believe. Most
non-white schools are segregated by poverty as well as race.
Schools in low-income communities remain highly unequal in terms
of funding, qualified teachers, and curriculum.
Other taboo stories include civilian death rates in Iraq and
questions on 9/11. ...
Where did these covert instructions to the media originate? The
United States was appropriately proud of its constitution, built
on the foundation of balance of power so that no group or person
would be able to achieve absolute power. The President, the
Congress and the Courts in concert with a Free press were
supposed to make sure that the public received the kind of
government that the American Revolution was fought over.
However, in 1947 Congress had passed The National Security Act
and that's where the weakness lay. The CIA, the bastard child of
the Act, was effectively beyond the control of checks and
balances. It is in the nature of Power that it defends its
interests in whatever way it deems necessary, and Power here
found a useful instrument, an organization without oversight
which could easily be taken over and manipulated for the
purposes of the powerful. (From Armageddon Explained or

Learn About That Which Has Been Hidden In Our World Discover how the truth has been twisted, slanted and
purposefully kept from you
The
New York Times story about MSNBC's corporate parent, General
Electric, forcing the network to soften its criticism of Fox
News has generated a lot of buzz over the weekend. But what's so
telling about the story and the residual chatter is that, with
the exception of
Glenn Greenwald's typically terrific coverage, it largely
misses the newsiest - and most taboo - part of the whole
brouhaha.
What the Times story and the aftershock gossip
focuses on is the personality feud and new detente between
MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Fox News' Bill O'Reilly. That's
supposedly the "news." And yet the real story is the
heavy-handed intervention by the CEO of General Electric
effectively forcing MSNBC's news team off a crucially important
set of stories - namely, Fox News' politicization/Republicanization
of media.
For years, Establishment media voices like
Charlie Rose (yes, the same Charlie Rose who the Times story
says played a direct role in the corporate parents' intervention
at MSNBC and Fox) have
insisted that it's a black-helicopter-style conspiracy
theory to assert that corporate parent companies
pressure/impact/limit the newsrooms they control.
But, of course, the evidence has become
overwhelming in the last 15 years. ... (More)
Since Walter Cronkite's passing, new focus has
been put on the decline of legitimate news sources in America.
The big three networks have fallen the way of the corporate
cable news/propaganda networks and people are turning to
alternate sources like The Daily Show to get a little truth with
their news. That's why it came as no surprise that Jon Stewart
was voted Most Trusted Newscaster In America
in a recent Time poll.
Not to take away from Stewart's
accomplishments, but it does speak volumes about the way the
American people view the major networks and their "news"
departments -- and that they would take the word of a comedian
more seriously than high profile, highly paid network news
anchors.
Stewart has long taken on the corporate media,
beginning with
his notorious smackdown of the feckless Tucker Carlson on
CNN's Crossfire in 2004, which lead to the eventual demise of
the show. Since then, he has been relentless in his pursuit of
the truth, and C&L has been posting videos from The Daily Show
for years, along with many other blogs, big and small.
Time Magazine has recently published a hit piece unabashedly
refuting some of the biggest conspiracies of modern time, lumped
together with a few 20th century rumors. They did it with no investigation whatsoever, yet the
folks at Time just know that the following
stories (below) are pure craziness. Way to put some journalistic integrity
into your work Time Magazine. To lump six or seven worthwhile
mysteries in with a few stories that are clearly unverifiable, or
perhaps just verifiably stupid, they try to discredit the truth in
all of them. That's how disinformation and propaganda works.
No matter that a motorcycle cop had
his radio microphone keyed and picked up (and recorded) numerous
shots at Dealy Plaza, all too close together to have come from a
single bolt-action carbine rifle, or that over one hundred
eyewitnesses mysteriously died within a year of coming forward
with grassy knoll testimony, Time Magazine knows that the JFK
assassination is all just poppycock.
It apparently doesn't matter that
three buildings fell at near free fall speed through the path of
most resistance on 9/11, or that a military grade cutting charge
was found in four separate samples of WTC debris, or that parts
found in the debris do not match the airplanes said to be
responsible for them, Time Magazine says that they know better,
even without providing research of their own.
It's no big deal that the Federal
Reserve is not run by the US government, or that the Bilderberg
group, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, or
Bohemian Grove members have designs on controlling the world, Time
Magazine's lack of personal investigation makes all of this
untrue, just because they say so.
Forget all the medical research
that shows AIDS is an engineered virus, Time Magazine surely knows
better without ever having to look or do a journalistic
investigation on their own.
The fact that they didn't live
during the time of Jesus has no bearing on what they know
about his personal relationships. Time Magazine knows better.
While this author has no definitive
research one way or the other regarding a reptilian race, I am
fairly convinced that a great number of Jews were persecuted at
the hands of Hitler because I saw firsthand photos taken by a WWII
intelligence vet. But throw in a stupid pop rumor regarding Paul McCartney and
Time has done its best to lump all the other mysteries into one
big vat of bullshit. If anyone should know about bullshit, it
would have to be Time Magazine.
Too bad they didn't try to refute
Operation
Mockingbird or the fact that their own magazine is
a mouthpiece for the CIA. Hey, maybe that's because it's real and
not a conspiracy. Way to go Time!

The Difficulty of Being an Informed American
By Paul Craig Roberts January 08, 2009
The American print and TV media has never been very
good. These days it is horrible. If a person intends to be
informed, he must turn to foreign news broadcasts, to Internet
sites, to foreign newspapers available on the Internet, or to
alternative newspapers that are springing up in various cities. A
person who sits in front of Murdoch's Fox "News" or CNN or who
reads the New York Times is simply being brainwashed with
propaganda.
Before
conservatives nod their heads in agreement, I'm not referring to
"the liberal media." I mean the propaganda that issues from the US
government and the Israel Lobby.
It was neoconservative Bush
regime propaganda fed to America through Judith Miller and the
New York Times and through Murdoch's Fox "News" that
convinced Americans that they were in danger from a small secular
Arab country half way around the globe called Iraq. It was the
American media that convinced Americans that getting rid of
dangerous "weapons of mass destruction," weapons that did not
exist in Iraq, would be a cakewalk paid for by Iraqi oil revenues.
